He was the son of Larry Patrick "Bud" and Sammie Lee (Chick) Ables. They are buried in the "Boonshill-Old Salem Cemetery".

His Obituary:

Eugene S. Ables, an employee of the City of Fayetteville, died Monday afternoon in a Nashville hospital following an illness of approximately two weeks. He was 64 years old.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Washington Street Church of Christ with Eugene Peden and I. C. Pullias officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens with Higgins Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Ables was a native of Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Bud and Sammie Cheek Ables. During his earlier years, he was a farmer and for the past 20 years, had been employed by the City of Fayetteville. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Delia Anne Winsett Ables; two daughters, Mrs. James M. Towry of Jackson, Mississippi, and Mrs. Robert H. Anderson of Madison; a son, Billy S. Ables of Tustin, California; and six grandchildren.
