LD GRISSOM, 81, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Pasadena Bayshore Hospital, Pasadena, Texas. L D was born on March 15, 1928 to the parents of J.P. and Marie Grissom in Kemp, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dolores Williams Grissom, daughter Nelwyn Grissom Powell and husband Walt, son, Gregory Wayne Grissom, grandsons, Travis Grissom, Wyatt and Walker Powell, sister Joyce Grissom Hunt of Dallas, Texas and many nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Homer and sister Vivian preceded him in death. L D was an avid hunter having raised and hunted Brittanys for over 45 years. He was a member of the Gulf Coast Brittany Club. He went into the US Army in 1946 and was Honorably Discharged in 1949. He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1953. A memorial service to honor L D's life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:30pm at Forest Park Lawndale's Chapel of Angels. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.themmrf.org or The American Brittany Rescue c/o Addie Ann Spicer, 429 Arlington Street, Houston, TX 77007.
