Services for William O. Abbey, 69, of 608 N. 15th St., will be in Pettett Funeral Home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester. Mr. Abbey died Sunday, January 12, 1986, in Styrest Nursing Home, Carbondale.
A retired barber, he was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 127. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church.
Born Nov. 5, 1916, Kaskaskia, he was a son of Freeman H. and Christine T. Richie Abbey. He married Edna Whittington, Sept. 16, 1970, in Murphysboro. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sue Reese, McHenry, and Pattie Lea, St. Louis; one son, Bill Abbey Jr., Glendale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Phyllis McNeal, Sharon Donghue, and JoAnn Crabtree, all of Murphysboro; five stepsons, Henry, Bill and Michael Moutria, all of Murphysboro, George Edward Moutria, Lovington, and Donald Moutria, Elkhart, Ind.; and one brother, Harry Abbey, Steeleville.
