Beloved professor, colleague, and friend, George Andrew Slusarz, Jr., 57, died unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, April 6, 2012. He was born on May 14, 1954, in Cherry Point, NC, to George and Violette Slusarz. He is survived by his mother Violette Eleanor Slusarz, a sister, Margaret Ann Slovak, a brother-in-law Jon Slovak, and a nephew Matthew Slovak, all of Millington, TN. George held a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Accounting (Taxation), both from the University of Memphis, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma, and was credentialed as a Certified Public Accountant. Always quick to joke, his booming voice brought life and cheer to the business department at Webster University. He was a favorite of the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology students, gifted with taking a tough topic, like accounting or taxation, and explaining it to students in a way that made sense. George joined the faculty at Webster in 2008 and was active in university governance and departmental committees. He also taught at Yang-En University in Quanzhou, China, Bethany College in Bethany, WV, and at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, prior to assuming his position at Webster. A supporter of animal rights, George will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Winifred Moore Auditorium at Webster University on Wednesday, April 18 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
