WINNEBAGO - Mindy Lynn Falnes Caves, 35, of Winnebago, presently of Phoenix, AZ died Friday, Aug. 2, 1996, in her home. Born Dec. 15, 1960 in Rockford, daughter of Donald and Virginia Goad Falnes. Married Larry Caves in March, 1996. Graduated from Winnebago High School, class of 1978. Attended the University of Hawaii for two years and the University of Nevada, Reno campus, for three years, receiving a master's degree in English. She received a Ph.D. in English in 1995. Dr. Caves taught English at Gateway Community College for three years and was a student teacher for three years at Arizona State.

Survivors include her mother, Virginia E. Falnes of Winnebago; two brothers, Scott Falnes of Murfeesboro, TN and Craig Falnes of Loves Park; husband, Larry Caves of Mesa, AZ; aunts and uncles, Raymond and Merilyn Falnes of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Virgil Falnes of Rockford, Bert and Marilyn Thomas of Sun City West, AZ, Glen and Sandra Turnbull of Roscoe, uncle and friend, Gary Falnes and Patty Johnson of Goodrich, MI, Boyd and Juanita Rynes of Yuba, WI, James and Shirely Goad of MacClenny, FL, Kenneth and Jody Volz of Baraboo, WI, Jerry Goad and friend, Mary Edgar of Janesville, WI, Warren and Roberta Schumaker of Milwaukee; and many cousins and special friends. Predeceased by father, Donald in March, 1994.

Memorial services at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, in First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago, with the Rev. Daniel W. Johnson, interim pastor, officiating. Cremation rites accorded. Visitation from 6 p.m. to services Wednesday in the church. Arrangements by Genandt Funeral Home, 602 S. Winnebago Road. Memorial to be established.
