Waseca Herald (MN.) - Aug. 14, 1947 - MRS. DELLA ABBOTT
Mrs. Della Abbott, a well known resident of Waseca and one of the early pioneers of Waseca county, passed away at the Waseca Memorial hospital Tuesday morning at 8:15. She was 85 years old and death was caused by the complications of old age. She had been ill for three days. Funeral services were held today at 1:30 p. m. at the Pfaff Funeral Home. Burial was in Woodville cemetery.
Pall bearers were: John Brown, Ray T. Barry, Arthur T. Johnson, George Webb, Thomas Wright and E. C. Ward.
She is survived by a son, Clarence C. Williamson of St. Paul, and one sister who is Mrs. C. L. Newcomb of Monroe, Wash. Mrs. Abbott was born on August 9, 1863 in Woodville twp, the daughter of Harrison Holden Sweet and Prudence Marilla Sweet. Her parents were early settlers of Waseca county, living on a farm near Goose Lake and later in Wilton. Mrs. Abbott attended the local schools here. She lived most of her life here, spending only several years in Washington. For many years she operated a millinery shop with her sister, the former Mrs. F. M. Smith. One son, Clarence, was born to her first marriage.
She was married to George Abbott in August 1923 in Spokane, Washington. Mr. Abbott passed away 10 years ago. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Episcopal church. She was also a member of the Rebekahs for over 25 years.
Out of town people who attended the funeral were: Mrs. George Serene, Mrs. R. T. Rockey, W. W. Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Williamson, all of St. Paul; Marian Grams of Winona, and Mr. and Mrs. John Tuttle of Owatonna.
