Brian Lee Rakes, 40, of Ridgeway, died Friday, December, 21, 2012 at his residence. He born on April 2, 1972 to the late Fred A. Rakes and Sandra Matherly Rakes of the home and was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Mildred Matherly and Murray and Vernice Rakes. In addition to his mother, Brian is survived by a sister, Christy Rakes Lemons of Ridgeway, a special stepsister, Veronica Atkins Panizzi, two nieces, Tiffani Amber Gregory and Aliyah Panizzi and two nephews, Tyler Austin Gregory and Josh Panizzi. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor David Cuthbertson officiating. Burial will follow Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
