Kenneth J. Aagaard, 78, passed away quietly surrounded by his loved ones on December 28, 2012 after a long illness.
Ken was born October 22, 1934 in Bellingham, Washington to Kasper and Julia Aagaard.
He served his country from 1953-1956 in the United States Marine Corp. He was on the battleship U.S.S. Essex as a sea going Marine in the South Pacific.
He graduated from electronics school while married and working full time. He spent most of his working career in electronics working at Boeing, Hercules, EG&G (at the Nevada test site) and Utah Power.
He was fun to be around and always loved to tell a good joke or story. He was always willing to help anyone in any way that he could and he made friends easily.
He married Myrna Kelsch on September 7, 1956 in Salt Lake City. They had two daughters and a son: Karen (Todd) Briggs, Karla (Jim) Wilhelmi, Kevin (Nicole) Aagaard and a granddaughter, Jenna Wilhelmi. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel at 1950 E. 10600 S. where family and friends may call one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to thank Sandy Care & Rehab nurses and staff for all they did for Ken and One Care Hospice for their tender care the last few weeks of his life.
