Lettie Jenette Brainard, 70, of 715 Allison avenue died in a local hospital at 9:45 a.m. Monday after a serious illness of six weeks. She had been in failing health for two years. Although she had lived in Canon CIty only since November 14, 1949 she had been a resident of Colorado for 15 years and had visited frequently before coming from Denver to make her home here and had made a wide circle of acquaintances. Whenever her health permitted, she was extremely active in the work of the First Methodist church and also sang in the choir. She was born February 29,1880, at Moline Kans., but later lived in Omaha, Nebr. Her lodge affiliation was that of the Pleiades Rebakah lodge No 67 of Denver. Additional information included survivors and arrangement....

"The final rites of the First Methodist church were accorded Wednesday to Lettie Jenette Brainard, late of 715 Allison, when services were held at 2 p.m. from the Holt chapel. Dr. Benjamin Eitelgeorge officiated. A large number of friends were in attendance and many beautiful floral offerings were arranged at the front of the chapel." ...Pallbearers weree Joe R. Quinn, Joe Martin, Merle Wilson, John Jones, Ernest Gilmer and John Boysen. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery.
