A son of Michael and Cornelia (VAN NESS) VanDerCook,
Simon married 1. Levyntje "Fevine" VAN DER HOOF on 1 June, 1773 "op de Halve Maen" (at the Half Moon), Saratoga Co., NY. They had nine children, all of whom survived to adulthood. They were: Michael Simon VDC, Sarah VDC, Henry Simon VDC, Gilbert VDC, Cornelia VDC, John Simon VDC, Simon S. VDC,

Simon was a Revolutionary War veteran, having served as an Ensign in the 14th Regiment, Albany Co., Militia. Listed as a Revolutionary War Patriot in Hatcher, Patricia Law.
