Although Martin's WWI draft registration card says birth date as January 11, 1897, all other data says January 11, 1899.


Martin Freeman
Funeral services for Martin Dewey Freeman, 63, of 71 Springbrook, who died Friday night (January 19, 1962) at the Druid City Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday (January 21, 1962) at the Covenant Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Will Ormond. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Spigener-Brown Service in charge.

The Gordo native was an aide at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter; a son; four sisters, Mrs. R. E. Lancaster and Mrs. A. P. Duren of Tuscaloosa, Miss Ophelia Freeman and Miss Blanch Freeman of Gordo; two brothers, Jim Freeman and E. T. Freeman of Tuscaloosa and four grandsons.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Kirby, Fred Yerby, Oliver Elmore, Rufus Noland, N. W. Patterson and Jimmy Owens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Shamblin, Dr. George Howard, Dr. John F. Robinson, Dr. W. F. Simpson and John Jernigan.
