The Belleville Telescope, Sept. 20, 1990

Ross A. Cornwell, 99, of Haddam, son of Charles E. and Eva Belle Riggle Cornwell, was born April 4, 1891, on a farm north of Haddam, and died September 12, 1990, at Republic County Hospital in Belleville.

He was a retired farmer in the Haddam community for 54 years. He married Daisy Belle Hoffman, May 4, 1920, at Washington. She died October 15, 1985.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, a lifetime member of the National Geographic Society, active in the Washington County Historical Society and Friends of Hollenberg Station.

Surviving are three sisters, Alta Taylor of Tucson, Ariz., Alma Burt of Concordia, Elsie Dorman of Harcourt, Ia.; one brother, Ralph E. Cornwell of Denver, Colo.

Graveside services were held September 15 at the Haddam City Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Andy Torres.
