Mrs. Devlin was born in Keene, New York, fifty years ago last September, and was the daugther of the late Matthew and Johanna Hurley. Thirty years ago she was married to Mr. Arthur Devlin. The family resided in Jay until five years ago when they removed to the John Brown farm near this village where they lived until last summer when they moved to the village.
The deceased was an exemplary wife and mother and neigbor. Her kindness and sweet disposition made for her a large circle of admiring frierids, all of whom join in extending sympathies to the bereaved husband, family and kinsfolk.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Devlin was survived by three daughters and five sons, namely, Mark Devlin of Jay, New York; Mrs. William E. Hovey of Rochester, New York; John, Kathleen, Arthur, Vernon, Mary and Hurley at home in Lake Placid; also three brothers, Messrs. John, James and Matthew Hurley, and two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Ware of Lake Placid, and Mrs. Thomas Madden of Jay.
All the members of the family were at the bedside of the deceased when the end came.
The funeral was held from the home at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, May 17, 1919, thence to St. Agnes' church, where a mass of requiem was celebrated at 10 o'clock. Burial was in St. Agnes' cemetery.
