Obituary (The Daily Times October 3, 1977)

{Retired Cab Driver Died - Francis W. Boyd, 61, of 315 W. Main St., a retired driver of Yellow Cab Company, was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital at 5 p.m. after being stricken ill while changing a tire on his car on Courts Street Bridge.

According to city police, Mr. Boyd stopped on the bridge to change the tire and was assisted by a pedestrian, Douglas Ward, 16 of 1704 State St, who told police Mr. Boyd fell over onto the pavement.

City police were dispatched at 4:07 p.m. and Officer Cole A. Filson administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation until Guilfoyle Ambulance arrived and transported Mr. Boyd to Mercy Hospital.

The funeral will be Tuesday, 11a.m. Simpson Funeral Home, Rev. Thomas J. Carlisle, pastor of Stone Street Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be this evening 7-9.

Survivors are his wife, one son and one daughter, two grandchildren; two brothers, William C., 1122 High St., and Harold N., Great Ben Kansas.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Hall died in 1975.

Born August 14, 1916 in Brownville, a son of Frank and Mary LaFountaine Boyd, he served in WWII and married Ruth LaPatra in July 1941 in Emmanual Congregational Church with Rev. Richard H. Bowen, pastor officiating.

Mr. Boyd, formally associated with the fuel oil business, retired four months ago as a driver for Yellow Cab Co. after suffering a heart attack.}}
