Larry Ableman, 86, of Hovland, died December 15, 2012 at the Cook County North Shore Care Center.

He was born on September 5, 1926 to Ray and Olga Ableman in Greany, Minnesota. He grew up and attended schools in Greany. Larry served in the Army during WWII. After his service in the military, Larry worked as a heavy equipment operator in the mines, for Johnson Moore (later Hoover) Construction, logging, and John's Mathisen for over 40 years.

Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and guns. He was also a great collector. He was a member of the Hovland Fire Department, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; daughter, Margie O'Leary; and brothers, Delbert, Doug, Art, Walter, and Lloyd.

Larry is survived by step-son Marty (Andrea) Jackopich and their children Tom, Tina, Tara, Martin, and Marie; step-daughters, Carla, Bonnie, Connie, and Monica; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in June at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland. Burial will follow at Old Settler's Cemetery.
