Woman enjoyed flowers and gardening
Ellen Schrader, 93, formerly of Berwick, died Dec. 31, 2012, at Emeritus at Bloomsburg, where she had been a resident. She was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Hazleton, a daughter to the late John and Cora (Swank) Bitlorf.
Ellen was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She was a former member of the United Church of Christ of Berwick, the Women's Guild, Berwick Garden Club, Civic Club, the Senior Circle and Eastern Star.
She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Frederick Schrader Jr., in addition to her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are a son, Frederick Schrader III, husband to Shirley, and three grandchildren: Frederick IV, Andrew and Megan Schrader, all of Bloomsburg, and a sister, Ruthie, of Maine.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the McMichael-Rairigh and Baker Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Eastern Star will hold a service at 7 p.m. Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 301 W. Second St., Berwick. The Rev. Rebecca Broyan will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at the Sky View Cemetery in Hometown, Pa.
