Otto Stohr lost his Wife Arna during the war in 1944 while he was in the service

Otto Stohr, had four Daughter`s Rita Gisela, Ellen & Lore. Later he had two son`s Deiter, and Heinz.

Ellen's Mother received a letter from her husband, telling her that he was in Poland. He was wounded and they told him that he was not going to live because his liver was torn apart. Ellen and her Mother made it to Poland, and did get to see him. Ellen Remembers seeing her Father once before this, she was five years old, she was in the hospital with scarlet fever. Her Father was not able to go in to the hospital to see her, She was quarantined in a ward with many children with the same sickness. So her Father got a ladder and climbed up to her window and got to see her.

Ellen never saw her Father again because of the war, she was told he was dead due to the liver damage, But that was not so, her Father did recover and was sent back to his outfit and ended up being a POW in the Russians Camps. Ellen's Father was free one year later after the war.
Otto came home to Berlin, looked for his wife and children when returning to Berlin, he did not know his wife was dead, he found and saw that their house was destroyed, He did located the children at the Grandfather's cottage
