Thomas Earl Early, 88, of 108 A Baby Doe Drive, Rome passed away Tuesday morning December 13, 2011 at a local health care center.

Mr. Early was born June 26, 1923 at Early Station near Coosa, the son of the late William Daniel Early and Susie Wood Early. He was a member of the Livingston United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Italy and North Africa Campaigns. Mr. Early retired from the West Point-Pepperell Manufacturing Company and worked with Pollard Security at Southeastern Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, R. C. Early and Elbert Early, and a sister, Grace Pettyjohn.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Edwards Early, to whom he was married August 3 1949; two daughters, Nancy Murphy of Armuchee and Beverly Messinger of Bensalem, PA; brother, Billy Early and sister Lucille Ayers Tate, both of Rome. Six grandchildren, Todd Gresham, Adam (Julie), Jacob, Bonnie, Jennifer, and Danielle Messinger and three great grandchildren, Aiden, Emmy, and Maddy, also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Studdard and Mr. J. Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery near Kingston. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 Thursday: Todd Gresham, Adam, Jacob, and Mark Messinger, and Thomas Murphy.
