Donna Rae Wakefield passed away peacefully at Valley Vista Care Center
in Sandpoint, Idaho where she had lived for the past 1 1/2 years. She
died from complications of Cor Pulmonale. Born August 14th, 1942, she
was adopted by Raymond and Florence Gudeen shortly after birth, both
preceded her in death. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and was a
1959 graduate of W.B. Ray High School and later, Texas A&I
University of Kingsville, Texas.

She married Kelly Wakefield in 1967, he survives.
Their marriage produced one daughter, Noelle (spouse Michael), and three sons, Kirk (spouse Amy), Brett and Matthew.

She also had five grandchildren, Mario, Makenna, Seth, Hunter and Connor.

She spent her career educating special needs children
with more than 25 years at
William B. Travis High School in Austin, Texas, retiring in 1997. She moved to her retirement dream of Sandpoint, Idaho in 2002, a place familiar to her from her childhood.

She will have a green burial
in a casket made by her son, Matthew, from timber cut from the
retirement property she loved so much.

In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to:
Panhandle animal shelter, http://www.pasidaho.org/ , 870 Kootenai
Cut-Off Road Ponderay, Idaho 83852 or to the charitable organization of
your choice, preferably focused on education of special needs children.

with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone."  -Rose Kennedy
