Rose M. Pfeffenberger, 88, 840 Dorothy Lane, St. Marys, died at 2:57 a.m. Sept. 5, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1915, in St. Marys, to Joseph and Clara Dieringer Axe. On Nov. 15, 1937, she married Louis Pfeffenberger who survives at the residence.
Other survivors are two sons, Michael (Sandra) of Troy and Dennis (Sue) of St. Marys; a daughter, Karen (Michael) Showalter, Lima; a daughter-in-law, Judy of St. Marys; two brothers, Laurence Michael Axe, St. Marys, and Thomas Richard Axe, Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phil, and six brothers, Francis, James, Vincent, Urban, Cletus and Damian Axe.
She was a 1933 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She had worked at the former DWG Cigar factory and the G.C. Murphy Store, both in St. Marys. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Altar Rosary Sodality, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and was one of the original members of the Holy Rosary Label Committee that raised funds for Holy Rosary School.
Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
