Lloyd L. Devertick, 52, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, at his home on R.R. 2, Mulberry Grove, after an illness of six months.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Smithboro Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Cecil Martin and the Rev. Oral Grigg. Interment will follow in McInurff cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ripperdan Funeral Home, Mulberry Grove. Masonic rites willl also be conducted,
Lloyd Leroy Deverick was born January 12, 1924 in Vandalia, a son of Noah and Edna (Trexler) Deverick. His marriage was to Loretta F. Steiling at Vandalia on January 25, 1947. The couple resided in Vandalia and Smithboro before moving go Mulberry Grove.
Mrs. Deverick survives with five children; Dean of Bakersfield, Calif., Dale and Mrs. Allen (Janet) Waters, both of Mulberry Grove, David at home, and Mrs. David (Joan) Walker of Philo; four grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, Floy Deverick and Lois Nave, both of Vandalia, Clarence and Russell both of Decatur, Lucille Smith of Herrick and Betty Steinbring of Brownstown.
Mr. Deverick was employed 27 years by the Penn Central Railroad. He was a member of the Mulberry Grove Community Unit 1 school board nine years, member and deacon of Smithboro Baptist Church and member of Masonic Lodge 809 AF & A M. He was a four year Army Veteran of World War II.
Smithboro Baptist Church has been designated a memorial.
