DICKINSON - Carl Estes Clover, 83, a resident of Dickinson, Texas died on October 1, 2001, at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas. Carl Clover was born September 1, 1918, in Addis, Louisiana to Arthur Colfax Clover and Minnie Baker Clover. He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana.Clover retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel serving 28years. During World War II,he flew 51 missions in B-17sfor the Army Air Corps in the European Theater. He was also an instructor for B-29training. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters.Clover was employed byUnion Carbide Chemical Company for 37 years. At the time of his retirement, he was a shift supervisor.He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Warsand the American Legion.Graveside services will beheld on Friday, October 5,2001, at 10:00 a.m., at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville. Louisiana with Dr.Gary D. Baldwin officiating.Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, 701 Jackson,Alexandria, Louisiana.He is suivived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marjorie S.Clover; his son, Carl E.Clover Jr. and his wife, Dianne;his grandson, Captain Joshua S. Clover, USMC, and his wife, Alison; and his granddaughters, Jessica andCourtney Clover.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
