Charles Douglas Harviston


Charles Douglas "Charley" Harviston, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his home in Webb City. He was 62 years old.

Charley was born April 19, 1950, in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Clyde and Afton Maxwell Harviston.

On Sept. 22, 1990, he married the former Saundra A. Holifield in Kaw City.

A Veteran, he served for four years in the U.S. Navy, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam. Charley worked for over 20 years for APAC Industries as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife; children, Robbie and wife, Rachael Rulo of Claremore, Robert Enox of Fairfax, Charles Enox of McAlester, Aimee Owen of Webb City, David and wife, Dominica Allison of Nevada, Mo., Bill Owen of Webb City, Erin Owen and wife Macy Maris of Kansas City, Kan., Afton and Brian Acton of Dallas, Ga.; and Anna and Mikel Estes of Skiatook; brothers, Ralph Harviston and wife, Donna, of Haysville, Kan., Don Harviston and wife, Karen, of Douglas, Kan., and Paul Harviston of Webb City; sister-in-law, Peggy Harviston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his best friend, Ray Henry Ratliff.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jay Harviston.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Ponca City, for their care and compassion during Charley's final illness.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Shidler United Methodist Church. Pastor Jerry K. Coldren will officiate. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Kaw City.
