WEST LIBERTY --- Mrs. Grace Evelyn Carey, 84, died Sunday morning at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, following an extended illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Rev. Dick Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening at the Snider Funeral Home, West Liberty.

Grace Carey was born April 10, 1893, in Adair County, the daughter of Orin and Emma Scholl Burns. She had been a resident of this area for the past 58 years.

She married James Carey on Aug. 16, 1916, in Anita, Iowa. She was past chief of Pythian Sisters, past president of American Legion Auxiliary, past president of UMW and first president of the Woman's Club of West Liberty.

Survivors include her husband: one son, Dr. John W. Carey, West Liberty; one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Margaret Jean) Peisner, Okemos, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
