Lydia Jones (Birdie Hume) 86, residing in Bell, California, died at Whittier, California, Monday evening following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at Whittier, California, Thursday afternoon. Friends may call at the Pflanz Funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until 1:30 p.m. at which time the funeral cortege will form at the funeral home and proceed to the Moundville Cemetery where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. and the Rev. C. Phillip Burt will officiate. Survivors are two sons. Horace Hume, Mendota, Illinois, and George Hume, Whittier, California, a daughter (Esther) Mrs. Hilbert Walton, Grand Junction, Colorado; Three grandchildren: and four great grandchildren. One grandson James Hume, Mendota, Illinois preceded her in death on March 14, 1964.
