Florence Augusta Wells, second daughter of five children of Lewis Wheeler Wells (1817-1879) and Affa Maria Gray (1810-1884), was the wife of Charles Francis Pietsch (1844-1920), whom she married in Baltimore on 14 June 1866, and with whom she raised three children. According to her death certificate, she died, aged 31 years, 4 months, and 6 days, of "caseous phthisis" (i.e., consumption better known as tuberculosis), aggravated by exhaustion, at the home of her parents at 222 Lanvale St., Baltimore, following a prolong illness. Her funeral took place on Thursday afternoon, 22 March 1877, at Grace Church, on the corner of Park and Monument, Baltimore.
