Paul Raymond Batchelor, 90, of Hillsville, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2003, at Beverly Health Care, Blue Ridge, in Galax after a long illness. A native of Cherokee County, S.C., Mr. Batchelor graduated in 1941, from Clemson A & M College with a degree in Agronomy, followed by service in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II and the Korean War, achieving the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Bronze Star as well as two Combat Infantry Badges. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grover King Post 1115. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a proud member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge and past Worshipful Master as well as a past District Deputy Grand Master.
