Both Daniel Davis and his wife, Elizabeth Davidson Davis (as well as other early settlers) were buried in the original Gonzales Cemetery which was located in the inner town square designated in 1825 as a cemetery. In 1984 this area was declared "public land" by the City of Gonzales and the remains of those buried in the old cemetery were exhumed and transferred to a common unmarked burial site in the newer Gonzales City Cemetery.
