Frank J. Bohr, 60, well known Ossian business man, died Thursday, April 25 at his home following a lingering illness.
Prior to his death he had donated his body to the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
A memorial mass was conducted Saturday morning in St. Francis de Sales Church by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. V.J. Peters, assisted by the Rev. Richard Bohr of St. Lucas, the Rev. Henry Charipar and the Rev. Joseph Har. Military services were conducted in St. Francis Cemetery by the honor guard of Brockman Hammersland American Legion Post No. 503.
Ossian stores were closed during the services as a mark of respect to Mr. Bohr, who owned and operated Bohr's market for 22 years.
Frank Joseph Bohr was born March 14, 1914 at Ossian, a son of the late Henry and Antoinette (Zweibohmer) Bohr. He attended DeSales School and was a member of the 1932 graduation class. For several years he worked at Cahills Market and from 1942 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Army part of which time he spent overseas.
On December 20, 1947 at Canton, Ohio, he married Miss Sarah Herberth. In 1952 they came to Ossian and operated the meat market until his illness.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judy Bohr of Ames and Kathy Bohr of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Al Bohr of St. Paul, Minn,, Andy Bohr of Cedar Rapids, Ed Bohr of Ossian, and Henry Bohr of Rockford, Ill.; three sisters, Sister Doris Bohr of Ossian, Mrs. Melvine (Clara) Holien of Canton, Minn. and Mrs Orville (Frances) Herold of Cresco.
