On November 16, 1892, Louise married a farmhand that was working on her parents' farm - Wilhelm Vierk. Wilhelm was a recent German immigrant, having arrived in 1889 or 1890. Louise and William had 8 children - all of whom lived to adulthood:
1893 - Emma
1894 - John
1896 - George
1898 - Elsie
1903 - Edward
1905 - Mamie
1908 - Meta
1910 - Esther
There were many hard lean years for William and Louise and their growing family. They lived in numerous places in the Detroit / Springwells Township / Ecorse Township area, including several years on Dearborn Rd (now Schafer) near the village of River Rouge. At some point, after the death of Louise's father Carl Becker in 1914, the Vierk family moved into the large Becker farmhouse with Louise's mother and sister - Sophia and Lily Becker.
The Becker farm was eventually divided up among the children of Carl & Sophia Becker (including Louise). Two of Louise's brothers continued to farm their shares, while the other siblings sold their portion. William and Louise decided to start over with a new home in neighboring Taylor Township (on Pardee Rd).
William died shortly before the new home was completed, on October 12, 1923 of peritonitis, brought on by perforated pyloric ulcers. Louise and youngest daughter Esther moved into the new home (all of her other children were already married and living elsewhere by this time). When daughter Esther married Adolph Petroska in 1934, they continued to live with Louise, raising their 2 children there.
Louise died on August 18, 1940 at Grace Hospital in Detroit, of general peritonitis. Louise was in the hospital for surgery to attempt to repair a duodenal fistula (on August 14), but Louise died a few days later at the age of 64.
