William Albert Allen was born at Etna, Lafayette Co., Wis. Feb. 1873. He died in this village from ulceration of the stomach, Feb. 8, 1905, his 32nd birthday. In 1880 he moved with his parents to Arthur, Wis. where he resided several years. He went from there to Platteville and was employed by J.M. Smith. 13 years ago he came to Belmont and for ten years was a clerk in Hughes & Co.'s store. Three years ago he purchased a half interest in the firm, Allen & Hughes which he held until his death.
He leaves to mourn his loss a wife an daughter, four brothers and four sisters, J.H. Allen, Manchester, Ia., J.E. Allen, Benton, Wis., C.W. Allen, Galena, Ill., E. Allen, Janesville, Wis., Mrs. Maggie Livingston, Rewey, Wis., Mrs. Louis Kamm, and the Misses Etta and Ada Allen of Platteville, Wis. who will long cherish his memory in the hope of final reunion.
