Cecil E. Burk, 96, Rush Center, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse.
He was born July 4, 1916, in Alexander to Russell E. and Mae H. (Link) Burk.
He married Velma F. Nash on Aug. 20, 1937, in Great Bend. She preceded him in death Oct. 13, 2009. He was a farmer prior to retirement.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherla A. Mendenhall and husband, Jerry D., Rush Center; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a son, Ted Burk; three grandchildren, Monte Burk, Sandra Mendenhall and Jami Mendenhall; five brothers, John Burk, Virgil Burk, Russell Burk, Vernon Burk and Don Burk; and five sisters, Loretta Lewis, Lillie Burk, Virginia Burk, Audry Burk and Bonnie Burk.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse; burial in Nekoma Union Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Cecil E. Burk Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
