Leonard Edward Alexander was a son of Clarence Edward Alexander and Ethel Poteat Alexander of Kannapolis, NC. He was married to Leona Vaughn Alexander, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his parents, and by a sister Coleen Alexander Furchass. He was survived by his daughter, Janice Alexander Bigger (husband Michael); stepson, James Dalrymple (wife Wanda); brothers, Bobby Alexander (wife Lib) Wilmington, NC; Troy Alexander, Albemarle, NC; sister Helen Alexander Blackwelder, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Ashley Janet Bigger, Shannon Long (husband Garry), and great grandchildren Alex and Andrew Prachar. Leonard was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Charlotte, NC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Siboney in the Korean War. He was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. He was a passionate UNC Tarheel Fan, enjoyed gospel music and loved the outdoors, especially his time on the South Fork River.
