Roll for Nov. 1st, 1864, to Feb. 28th, 1865, Absent with leave of 20 days from Feb. 19th, 1865, to Feb. __, 1865. Apptd. Asst. Surgeon by Maj. Gen. Maury. Present on Roll for April 20th to 30th, 1865. On Rolls of Prisoners of War as Asst. Surgeon, 20th La. Infty. Paroled at Meridian, Miss., May 12th, 1865. Res. ___.

Online sources state that he was the son of Benjamin and Anastasia Bourgeois Cross. He stood almost seven feet tall. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree at the New Orleans School of Medicine (now Tulane) in 1862. After the Civil War he married Abbie Billiu in Lafourche Parish 18 Feb 1867. They were the parents of Sidney Billiu, Ella May, Lila May, Edward and Carrie McNair Cross.
