Magnolia Tharp Dies Last Night

Mrs. Magnolia Tharp. 72, died at the home of her son, Claude Houston in Fort Wayne at 7:35 o'clock Friday evening following an illness of two months. Mrs. Tharp suffered a stroke on April 8th and had been ill since. Born September 2, 1874 (marker shows 1873) near Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Ash. She was twice married, first to Forman Houston, and later to Frank Tharp, in 1912. He died on August 12, 1937. Mrs. Tharp was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Claude Houston, of Fort Wayne, at whose home she died, and Leroy Houston, of Kokomo. There are seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren and a brother, Homer Ash, of Joliet, Illinois. The body was removed to the Copher and Fesler funeral home where it will remain. Funeral rites will be conducted Sunday afternoon from the Christian church at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. W. Wittkamper and Rev. Byron Mahan will have charge.
