BALDWYN - Moneca Burns Downs Robertson, 88, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Luke Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. She was born April 3, 1919, in the Meadowcreek-Hopewell community to the late Clarence and Iona Burns. She married Merton Downs on April 3, 1938. They lived in numerous states while he was employed as a construction worker on power plants. After settling in Baldwyn, she became active in the Girl Scouts and in the WMU at the First Baptist Church for many years. She was employed at the Auto Auction and Joe's Dollar Store in Baldwyn. After her husband's death, she married Tom Robertson, who also preceded her in death. In 2001 she moved to Franklin, Wis., to be near family. She was a member of Layton Avenue Baptist Church while living there. She enjoyed getting together with her friends, knitting and crocheting.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Baldwyn with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Garden. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Sue Houston and Billy Wayne; one granddaughter, Rhonda Cattani; one grandson, Don Houston and Joan; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Cattani, and Allison Houston; two sisters, Fay Bennett of Booneville and Betty Joe Dobbs of Baldwyn; one brother, Hayden Burns of Madison; two stepsons, Jeff and Jerry Robertson.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents; and three brothers, Lawrence, Berwyn and Harold Burns.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Rhondie, Jessie Joe, Jerry and James Burns, Skip Dobbs and Ronald Bennett.
