ATLANTA -- Ruth Perrine Whitmore, Roswell, Ga., formerly of Sharpsville, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Atlanta. She was 84.

Ruth was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Sharpsville to the late William and Emily Smith Perrine.

She was a member of the Roswell Presbyterian Church and a member of the Hampton Roads (Va.) Traffic Club.

She worked 31 years in civil service for the Department of the Defense and, upon retirement, was the budget officer for Fort Belvoir, Va.

Mrs. Whitmore leaves behind: James Whitmore, her husband of 40 years, at home; sons, George A. Cooke, Topsfield, Mass.; and Stephen Cooke, Roswell; a daughter, E. Lorraine Tapia, Brentwood, Tenn.; a sister, Donna Jelley, Sharpsville; four grandsons; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
