Ruth E. DeMarco, 81, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday (Oct.31, 2008) at SEORMC after a brief illness.

She was born December, 19, 1926, in Cambridge, son of the late Everett M. and Laura M. Campbell.

She was retired from Krogers and was formerly the owner/operator of the Union Bus Terminal for several years. Ruth was also previously employed at Kresge's, Jean Frocks, Davis Department Store, Champion Spark Plug and as a cook with the Cambridge City Schools.

She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, reading and traveling. She was very active in the community with a variety of organizations. Her activities included serving as a Girl Scout leader and was a trainer and den leader for the Cub Scouts of America . For her involvement with the Cub Scouts she was awarded the Forest Trail District Award of Merit in 1973 and the Silver Beaver Award in 1974. She was a volunteer worker for the March of Dimes for over 25 years including being the County Chairman. She was a member of the Herb Club. She had been active in the Little League Auxiliary, helped organize the Child Service Center, was President of the Lincoln School and Junior High PTA, treasurer of the local chapter of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Triple E Investment and President of the Cambridge Band Boosters for which she was named an honorary member of the band in 1977.

Most recently, she was instrumental in the organization and chartering of the local AARP Chapter where she served numerous terms as President. Ruth volunteered at the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center, Beckett House of New Concord, Cambridge Singers the Cambridge Performing Arts Center, and was a board member of the American Cancer Society and the Cambridge Concert Association. Also, she was involved with the Cancer Support Group (COPERS), the planning committee of the National Cancer Survivors Day and the Diabetic Support Group with her husband and son. She served as a greeter at the First United Methodist Church of Cambridge.

Survivors include John B. F. DeMarco, whom she married March 3, 1946; two sons, Chris (Lisa) of Stow, OH and Steve, Cambridge; two grandchildren, Sarah and Melissa; her two beloved Pugs, Precious Ruby, Pork E. Pugg; and many special friends and family members who showed their kindness and compassion throughout her life and during her illness.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Rev. Dr. Alan Bevere will officiate the service with burial following in Northwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambridge High School Band attn: Jim Bock 65328 Creek Rd.
