Martha was the daughter of Allen T. Hamblen of Maine and Hannah Jackson Wentworth Hamblen of Baldwin, Cumberland County, Maine. Hannah and Allen were married after 15 December 1838 in Baldwin, Cumberland County, Maine. Note: This was the date of their marriage intention in Baldwin. It is not certain that the actual marriage took place in Baldwin.

Hannah and Allen had six children. They were: Allen T. Hamblen was born on 27 November 1839 in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine; Ellen Hamblen was born about 1840; Mary E. Hamblen was born about 1842; Martha Goodwin Hamblen was born in January 1844 in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine; Cyrus Hamblen was born about 1846; and Alma Hamblen was born about 1848.

Note: Martha's middle name may be Goodwin. On the death records of two of her children her name was given as Martha Goodwin, without the surname of Hamblen, as though Goodwin were her maiden name. Could this imply that she was an adopted member of the Hamblen family and was originally a Goodwin? Her father's sister Martha married an Aaron Goodwin.

Martha married Moss Aaron about 1863 in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine. Martha and Moss had nine children. They were: Barney Aaron was born on 10 January 1864; Joseph Aaron (# 83600996) was born on 06 February 1866; Solomon Aaron was born on 18 June 1869; Phoebe Lee Aaron was born on 15 September 1871; Abraham Aaron was born on 07 June 1874; Harry Lee Aaron was born on 13 August 1876; Martha Aaron was born on 27 November 1878; Lewis Franklin Aaron was born on 20 October 1881; and Ella Aaron was born on 12 January 1884. All the children were born in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

Note: The official cause of death from her death certificate reads, "Valvular disease of the heart, cerebral hemorrhage, and paralysis."
