A.J. Everett Tweed, 90, of Greeneville, peacefully joined our heavenly father on Jan. 5 at VA Medical Center at Mountain Home, Tennessee.

He was a dedicated and respected World War II veteran who loved his family, friends, and country.

A.J. was a kind-hearted, loving spirit.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law: Janice Gregg of Chuckey and Wanda and Tives Minton of New Hope, Alabama; sons: Douglas Tweed of Newport and Rex Tweed of Greeneville; grandchildren and spouses: Tony and Teresa Gregg, Jeff and Terri Gregg of Greeneville, Tyler Gregg of Chuckey, Brian Tweed of North Carolina, Trever and Angela Minton of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, Tonya and Jeff Downs of New Hope, Alabama, and Jennifer and Steve Freeman of Chattanooga; and several nephews, nieces, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many family friends.

He was the son of the late Edward and Oma Lee Tweed and was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Ruth Marjorie Tweed; daughter: Constance Tweed; son: Jay Harold Tweed; brother: Eugene Tweed; and sister: Irene Whitehead.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the hospice team with the VA and to his friends and neighbors who were so loving and kind.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Follow the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Jim Fillers officiating.

Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens, where our precious gift from God will be laid to rest in peace. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

His pallbearers will be Jeff Gregg, Jared Gregg, Bobby Gregg, Keith Tweed, Randy Tweed, and Brian Wills.

Don Tweed, Steve Tweed, and Hugh Tweed will serve as honorary pallbearers.
