Youngest daughter of Lloyd and Margaret Louise Shuman.

Wife of Lewis Whitenight. Jennie graduated from the Bloomsburg Normal School in 1915 and married Lewis Whitenight of Rupert, Pennsylvania, United States, who was an engineer and businessman. As had several of her siblings, she lived for many years in Detroit, Michigan. She then lived in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband owned a Lincoln-Mercury dealership. When they retired in the 1950s, they moved back to Bloomsburg.

Jennie and Lewis had no children, but she was especially close to her niece Violet, daughter of her sister Mary Amanda. She loved to read, and she was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking (according to her diary, especially a lemon sponge or a coconut cream pie), entertaining, socialising and visiting friends.
