Josephine Furillo, Founder of Furillo's Sandwich Shop in Chester Josephine (Parzanese) Furillo, age 91, died on January 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Ocean View, DE. Born in Reading, Josephine was a longtime resident of Chester before moving to Elverson,PA.
More recently, she resided in Boothwyn for many years before moving to Ocean View, DE. Josephine founded Furillo's Sandwich Shop in 1953 where she opened at 3rd& Welsh Streets in Chester and then moved to 10th & Kerlin Streets in 1968. Josephine was an avid baseball fan and was a Philadelphia fanatic. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos.
She was the wife of the late Nicholas Furillo who died in 1989 and mother of the late Donald Furillo who died in 1995. Survivors: Children: Joanne Muller, Michael Furillo (Angela Lee) and Linda Wojciechowski (Charles); sister, Mary Tablone, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation: Monday from 9-10:15 am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home 5980 Chichester Ave Aston.
Funeral Liturgy: Monday, 10:30 am, Nolan-Fidale. Burial: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Marple Twp. In lieu of flowers: donations may be made to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, DE 19963 or Visiting Angels, 28350 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Milton, DE 19968.
