Bronte is a small town, up the mountain from the large coastal city of Catania in Eastern Sicily.
He will always be remembered in Bronte as one of the 5 men killed in a mass execution by the Northern Italian "liberators" who came to Sicily in 1860.
He and the 4 other Brontese men were given a mock one day "trial" and executed by firing squad the next day in front of the San Vito Church in Bronte.
Responsible for the mock trial and execution was Nino Bixio, high ranking officer in Giuseppe Garibaldi's forces.
The city of Bronte built a monument to mourn these men. A photo of it is on this page.
