Thelma Irene Abbott, 86, of Hagerstown, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Coffman Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 31, 1914, in Page County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Albin D. and Annie Laura Chadduck Kibler.

She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband,
Leo L. "Jack" Abbott;
four daughters,
Doris Pertino of Silver Spring, Md.,
Betty A. Teti of Las Vegas, and
Virginia B. McKee and
Carolyn R. Hawthorne, both of Hagerstown;
two sons,
John D. Abbott Sr. of Odessa, Texas, and
Leon P. Abbott of Hagerstown;
five sisters,
Katie Seal of Front Royal, Va.,
Della Mae Manuel of Bentonville, Va.,
Vivian L. Smith of Leitersburg,
Helen Abbott of Tilghmanton, Md., and
Anna Nichols of Luray, Va.;
a brother,
Charles Kibler of Fayetteville, Pa.;
grandchildren;
20 great-grandchildren;
a great-great-grandchild; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by
a son, Ronald W. Abbott;
two brothers,
Willis D. Kibler and
Lynn Kibler; and
two grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
