William Frederick Abbe, for twenty-five years a prominent farmer in Woodville township, passed away at his home in this city last Sunday afternoon at about four o’clock. The deceased had been in ill health for some time and for the last four months, he suffered with Bright’s disease.
He was born in Hanover, Germany on May 20, 1869, and when only fourteen years of age he journeyed to this country alone, coming to the home of his uncle, Henry Abbe of Meriden, with whom he lived for a number of years. His marriage to Miss Ida Weichmann of Meriden took place on February 3, 1899. Last March he decided to retire and with Mrs. Abbe moved to their home on North First street, in this city.
The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at one o’clock from the late home and at two o’clock from the German Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member. The services were conducted by the Rev. F. H. Duerschner and the remains were laid to rest in Woodville cemetery.
Besides his sorrowing wife he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Fred Fette of Otisco township and Mrs. Henry Kurzman of Belgrade, Mont., also four brothers, Ernest and Henry of Woodville township, John in Otisco and Paul in Germany.
