Eugene J. Crans born June 18, 1933 in Caledonia, Michigan, passed away October 28, 2012 in Tucson, Arizona.

Served in the U.S. Army 1950 - 1953 and 1955 - 1976, retiring after 24 years as a Sergeant Major from Fort Pickett, VA on November 1, 1976. A second career ensued with the JROTC Department with the Grand Rapids Public Schools in Grand Rapids, MI. After having taught at Ottawa Hills High School, Union High School and serving as the Assistant Director of Army instruction, retired in 1991 to Tucson, AZ.

Survived by his wife of 22 years, Sondra M. (Leonard-Maksymowski); five children, Phillip J. (April) of Lonoke, AR, Phillis K. of Columbus, GA, Peter E. (Susan) of Fremont, MI, Perry L. and Patrick B. (Lynn) of Fayetteville, GA; two step-sons, Jeffrey M. (Marsene) Maksymowski of Las Vegas, NV, Steven L. (Leah) of Wilmington, NC and a step-daughter, Shari M. Maksymowski of Tucson, AZ; 18 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert C. (Pat) of Middleville, MI, Robert K. of Wyoming, MI and David A. (Cathy) of Dyersburg, TN, and numerous family members.

Preceded in death by brothers, Claude and Henry.

Visitation Thursday, November 1, 2012, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Services Friday, November 2, 2012, 10:00 a.m. both at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, Tucson. Interment to follow in Desert Vista Cemetery, Tucson.
