Deceased Name: Aaron Russell Bonham
Aaron Russell Bonham, was welcomed into the warm arms of God on Friday, January 20, 2006. He was born in Carriere, Mississippi on October 14, 1925 and was a resident of Handsboro, Mississippi (now known as Gulfport) his entire life. Mr. Bonham served his country during WWII on the destroyer, the U.S.S. Ellet (DD-398). As a proud member of the "greatest generation", he fought to preserve a free society, build peace, and give to future generations the precious gift of freedom. He was a lifelong member of the Joe Graham Post 119 of the American Legion and Post 2539 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Bonham was a talented artist and photographer who brought great joy to all with whom he shared his incredibly beautiful nature pictures. He enjoyed fishing and gardening at his home on Bayou Bernard. Mr. Bonham was the owner and proprietor of the famous "Lakeview Inn" on Cowan Road in Handsboro (Gulfport). It later became known as the "Handsboro Yacht Club".

Mr. Bonham lost his home to Hurricane Katrina and, as a result, was able to spend four blessed months with his family in Brandon, Mississippi before he became ill. We will always be grateful for that special time with him. Despite his joyful months with his children and grandchildren, he very much wanted to go back home as so many Gulf Coast residents do. He did go back to Gulfport for a short time, but God brought him back to us where he passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones around him. He was much loved and we will miss him and his wonderful stories.

Mr. Bonham was preceded in death by his parents, James Courtier Bonham and Mary Gladys Russell Bonham, and his beloved wife Reva Gay (Phoebe) Bonham.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Ann Bonham Elliott and Mitch Elliott of Brandon, Mississippi and Barbara Gay Lynette and Jim Lynette of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Peyton Bonham Elliott (11), Evan Austin Elliott (9), both of Brandon, Mike DeBartolo and Linda Candelario, both of Orlando, Florida; four great-grandchildren; two loving cousins, Sylvia Foreman and Carol Lightner; and many dear friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, Friday, January 27, 2006 at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi. The funeral service will be at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
