Alice Allen Milstead, daughter of Franklin F. & Mary "Brown" Milstead, married James Alfred Sparks January 30, 1876 in Hunt County, Texas. They were the parents of eight children; Marion Benjamin Sparks, Mary May Johnson, Felix Clayton Sparks, Bertha Ann Hardwick Edmister, Lara Lee Sparks, James Herbert Sparks, Robert Gian Sparks, and William Larkin Sparks. The Pilgrims Rest Cemetery is the final resting place for six of these children. Charles Wesley & Bertha Ann Edmister are buried in the Tecumseh Cemetery at Tecumseh, Oklahoma and James Herbert Sparks died in WWI and was buried in Ardevanne, France. Alice Sparks, age 44, died in the Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City from complications after surgery. Her body was transported by train to Seaton Station at McLoud and then by wagon for burial at Pilgrims Rest.

The Pilgrims Rest Cemetery is located in Cleveland County, two and one half miles south of Newalla, Oklahoma. Newalla, Oklahoma is located in Oklahoma County.
