Carol Yvonne (Tambke) Schmidt was born on Oct. 15, 1940, in Deshler, NE, to Arnold and Eula (Hill) Tambke. She passed away in her home in Peabody on Jan. 8, 2013, surrounded by family.She was baptized on Nov. 3, 1940, and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 11, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE. She retired from Legacy Park of Peabody as dietary manager.She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; one sibling, Arnold John Tambke Jr.; and two grandchildren, Melissa Ammeter and Benjaman Bishop.She is survived by three sons, Gayle Bishop and Jona of Goddard, Steve (Lee) Bishop of Peabody, Mark (Charla) Bishop of Florence; and one daughter, Vonnie (Arlen) Gfeller of Peabody; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marlys (John) Bowman of Ardmore, OK, Dorothy (Jeff) Marson of Menomonie, WI, Debra (Gary) Johnsen of Lincoln, NE, Mary (Tom) Rust of Holdridge, NE; one brother, Tom (Terry) Tambke of Lincoln, NE; two step-sisters, Trudy Berkey of Belville, NE, and Karen Dahms of Eagle, NE; one step-brother, Randy McCoy of Eagle, NE; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends whom she considered as family.Funeral services will be at Peabody United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home of Peabody from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11. Memorials may be designated to Peabody United Methodist Church Youth Group or Progressive Home Health Hospice of Newton.
