Betty Jean Bigbie, age 78, of Thousand Oaks, passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Aug. 14, 2008, with her husband of 54 years by her side.
Betty Jean or "B.J.," as she was known to her friends and family, was born in Butte, Mont., on Nov. 29, 1929. She and her husband, Dick, were married in Seattle, Wash., on Sept. 10, 1954, a true love story. In the 55 years they were together, their love and affection never faded. A union made in heaven, which will last for time and all eternity. B.J. moved to Ventura County with her husband in 1959. She enjoyed spending time working in her garden, and she was an excellent cook who loved to exchange recipes with her friends. B.J. was also a very talented artist; she painted with a passion, and her attention to detail was amazing. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed 22 years of service as a volunteer at Los Robles Hospital, where she met, and became friends with, some wonderful people. Betty Jean was especially proud of the fact that she was a Marine in the Women's Marine Corps Reserves.
